Never thought I was white You can mos see why, right? Thought I was black But the blacker black would not have it, Jack Can't be Indian with this hair Though still a big fan of the flair No identification with middle or farther east But found in their philosophies a feast Tried to live with the term Kallid, you know Apparently my apartheid conditioning on show So took the decision to self-identify After exploring some of the when, where and why Finding that, after much discussion and explanation With pride call myself 'First Nation' Which, when all said and done, Is the group-term for Indigenous peoples like the Khoi and San And cognizant of the fact that in South Africa free 'Coloured' is still how most identify me SP 12 January 2016
