Most times the problem is inside your head The search for context, the daily bread The long, the short, the slightly oblique Influencing life's hide-and-seek When striving is eat and drink Your position evermore on the brink Then little room for plan and propose Stomach rules over what the head knows Those with privelege who show a propensity For underplaying this fundemental intensity Invoke socks, and belts, and even bootstraps As if the market is without snares and traps So in the comfort of their own enslavement secured To humanity and empathy they become inured Hiding in relief, calling it gratitude What they preach belied by attitude But what if we put sister and brother first Concern for their hunger, worry for their thirst Do we fly in the face of all that's held true And hope honourable intention sees us through? What if we're wrong, if it is each for themself Time to find ubuntu a place on the shelf Let go of the need for community Each interaction selfish opportunity Still would I not such participation desire A soloist does not constitute a choir Whatever comes by fate prepared Meaningless if not somehow shared Storm the castle and breach the gate

With intent of propagating hate Though conditions way past push and shove Be the one still choosing love For even when I pass on from here A thought I like holding dear No matter what dreams may come I lived, and loved, and then some
