Homeless

A person got shot in the face

A person not deemed this place

A person judged and tried

A person who knows someone lied

A person who can't call this a home

Less than cement lions or a garden gnome

Less than the tax that pays your rights

Your peaceful sleep and manicured nights

But you are here because you could negotiate

And successfully maintain immunity from the legacy of hate

And now the desperate and dead

Part of your 'blameless' and 'instead'

The lessons of apartheid's legacy

Appropriately-packaged in beneficiary

And the collateral damage but regret

When the damaged is 'collateral', don't forget
