A long, long time ago In a country that seldom saw snow And the sun grew as big as a full-moon on show There something stirred and desired itself to know At first shy the prying eye Shun the inquisitive tongue hoping secrets to pry Curl up in corners, nothing to spy Wishing each glance a passer-by Then, when any inkling of sharing was fraught With vision of family and friend overwrought When reaction was diametrically opposite the one sought How expression became less action, more thought The motive and the energy at origin, that germ Drowned out by prerogative, requirement and condition firm Invariably not great in the interim. But the gains assured (depending on who is to be believed) over the long term. The whole setup eventually against self directed What moves neither admired nor respected What's important scant on any radar detected Insights and concerns only inward reflected Resistance deemed futile, lack-of-choice to co-sign Existence was firstly something to which to resign With careful consideration, never that to undermine Maybe dream of deliverance, a passage divine Ascend these compromises and allowances and stepping into roles Transcend these self-fullfilling prophecies 'bout unattainable goals With all the appearance of currents, tides and bottomless holes Indicative really only of a suspicion ' gain confirmed - there's still lots of drowning not waving occurring in the shoals * The energy that prompts birth The reason manifest here on earth Obstacles to overcome, challenges without dearth This the knowing, this finding worth SP 27.04.20
