So here I am rhyming again An obsession since I don't know when But it will often come at me in a rush Like when covering a canvas with a brush And I find myself victim to the flow As the need to play with words grow I'm afraid that it means here on the show That you get to endure a verbal to and fro Let me start by wishing you a good morning Though it's been a while since the dawning and yawning And I sincerely hope the day is appreciating you After all, we all have a lot that we come through Which is why it's important, I suppose To engage in the gratitude posts I propose To not let worry and fret Reign supreme over our mind-set Certainly it helps, this little get-together For regardless of the weather We need to connect with those of like mind And try and generate more positive, loving and kind My commuting between cities has been rough And maintaining connections somewhat tough But what use complaining when over it all I've managed to negotiate life's rise and fall And in every life a little rain must fall No use wanting to hide or choosing to play small For around us there ever is the fantastic Obscured by the crude and the bombastic Relentlessly the wheel turns As the daily grind turns Still we get blessed with the 'little things' That which fills the soul, why the heart sings But we have to pay attention That which distracts us too numerous to mention And strive to acknowledge beauty and peace For therein lies our heart's ease The reaching to a better you, me, us The driving force behind this taxi-bus To be more, and yet also belong To support each other, make each other strong To make sense of living this muddle Why we gather here to hug, scrum and huddle Celebrating our uniqueness and our common humanity Without fear, favour or vanity If you were unsure that's what I meant That is in essence this corner's intent So we sing because each life is a tune And we laugh, because that's always been life's boon And we empathize and commiserate With those wounded by lack and the gaze of hate We try and make sense of each other's predicaments 'Cause we know of life's vagaries unabridged by sentiments And I hope that the time spent with me here Opens hearts and creates a listening ear For how do we not sink into the morass deeper If we are not our brothers and sisters' keeper How do we manifest the kind and the good If we don't start in our own neighbourhood While the politicians prattle And everywhere the cages rattle Whilst the world seems at war with itself Let us dust the old truths on the shelf That we are worthy of this life, and love That it's better to push than to shove That kindness is a particular human grace That we needs not judge each other by face That the human dream is a common one And that all deserve a place in the sun I love it here amongst you lot Remembering each other is all we've got Though that is enough when shining our light Let's at least try and make our corner bright And let's love, and love more, that's intrinsic To Soli's Corner empowered by words and fueled by music SP 11 May 2015
