Shining Stars

Shining Stars ECD Centre in Franschoek, our newest partner in Early Childhood Development, is an inspiring story of turning challenge into opportunity. Housing a previous Centre where Jacqui, founder of Shining Stars, was employed, and subsequently on their relocation being unable to accommodate her, Jacqui risked all to rent the church building, furniture and materials, and set about manifesting an alternative for the many children in the immediate community, desperately in need of such a facility. The love, energy and commitment to the children flows from this extraordinary woman and her team. Smiling, engaged, happy children bask in the attention and flourish under the care of these three, very present women, passionate about what they do. As a good-faith gesture of our support we provided assistance with Stationery, Worksheets, Food Items, even Carpets, while our ECD Team (headed up by our two out-of-retirement principals) assessed, evaluated and engaged, and set up the rules of engagement for our relationship going forward. At #AJF we are again heartened by the passionate concern and devoted care for the children at Shining Stars.
