As we have learned at the Foundation It takes all kinds, the composition of a nation Though somehow we have been remarkably blessed In having the love and support of some of the best And where obstacle and challenge seems to brook no immunity Regardless strove to see it constantly as a learning opportunity The layers and complexities engaging with community Yet bludgeoned by conflict and disunity At these times only a clear focus on intent Sews these tears pulling in different directions has rent Alarm a straying from original purpose That vital for petty and spoiled would dismiss So as we grew - as symptomatic also of the need It is these distractions of ego we seek not to heed The conviction of own perception above all And somehow growing bigger proportional to another's small We've had our affirmation days Go beyond proving our direction in so many ways Surprised the #SpringfieldMatters Champions, surprising themselves And predominantly made sure there was at least food on some shelves But more, with our functions and our day-theme displays Anything from Valentines, to Mothers, to Heritage Days Bringing a sense of community forth Even though at times thwarted by ambition and suspect self-worth So, we've signaled our youngsters, and bonded the littler ones And, folk have come forward invigorated again, firing from both guns Still have to negotiate community politic And sometimes it's best to let the dog beat himself with his own stick #DistrictSixMatters covers broadly our Housing Insecure Constituency Our worries, somewhat resembles depression and anxiety And the group-within-a-group, the Homeless Queer Individuals Part of the mocked-by-society, rejected residuals We were motivated though with the Soupathon Where we eventually ended up feeling disregarded and hugely put-upon And even though nothing is quite as heavy as a Tomato Party It became a case of either us, or (like they did) them going 'taatie' Cannot be denied though that what we did make some impact Even if just the approach of keeping integrity intact And staying with why this challenging exercise To somehow what we were taught, how we are, realize Then our ambassadorship with the Jakoet Foundation Also took an odd turn and ended up at a familiar station Where overnight we went from heroes to zeroes And spiting the face, we became the nose But as both these entities were fully aware The Soli Philander Foundation has always been about partnering in a Network Of care So when these doors close in our faces What we believe, and seek to achieve, immediately with other support replaces Our commitment to our Housing Insecure People stays Not that we have that much choice anyways Our outreach to the broader Queer Community has started strong Indications that we are getting a lot more right than inadvertently wrong We've nearly finished with our regular TB patient The ID-document thing with HIP an ongoing event We're managing well with being a line of clothes for the in-need child And but canst offer a supportive hand in that context opposite CPUT - mild The bread from Blue Ribbon remains a god-send Beacon Of Hope ; our other quiet sponsors; our courage and support on whom we depend And then like the other night, moments of sheer exquisiteness And everything conspiring to make for a moment being US bliss The artists did that magical thing Where human beings with the other-worldly fling And sensation becomes elevation and elation And ultimately a celebration, a revelation of the joy of creative communication Uncle Cal, he loves us well, heart as big as the ocean And when he plays, and makes you sway, is only Uncle Cal can get that particular motion And I'm not sure if he'll thank me for this notion But somewhere in my psyche he's always Dr Love, bearer of the love-potion! It's no secret, without quite understanding how, August West Is one of those artists that lets my spirit rest Articulates what moves in my veins, best That rent-free also in my cells guest I'm sure I must sound now like I exaggerate Feel free - it was one of those occasions you had to be at to fully appreciate Not that I mean to provoke your envy and spite Only that it was extraordinary, to highlight It is not so well-known the Foundation is huge on Vezz and his voice As blow-you-away in the moment performer, he's currently our first choice Did he disappoint? Believe he exceeded expectation Really, Vezz deserves to be a star, no protestation Jayde Kay is really the hottest drag artist today Rock a room, slay a crowd Have them scream her name out loud While she might be a member of 3D, I give her a plus and an A I say again, they must make me a liar You seldom see artists gathered together as if to inspire Performing as if you've never seen them do better Crafting, creating, elevating us number and letter Eazi Frank too, is a rapper so sweet It's a good thing rap's got such a specific Lyric sharp and style like his first name Brought the flavour, fired a laid-back flame Now DJ Dominator, not a word of a lie Is a very talented youngster, I'm not gonna lie Can read a room, can root a vibe Can turn a group into a tribe It was an incredible evening, a wonderful time A hint of what we strive for whether ridiculous or sublime But we are done with that inherited rhyme Of not defaulting to the best in us, arguably our biggest crime Thurston Hendricks really clocked Leaving jaws slack in delighted shock Sweet, old-school stylings with a Boys 2 Men twist Pretty much how to win over this particular guest-list Andrew Snyders was an unabashed delight An entertainer born to make a crowd's night Lovely on the ear, and on his feet so light You gotta say he brings it, and he brings it right! The surprise of the evening, the inimitable Sly You have to experience him to answer the response 'Why?' If authentic moves anywhere between earth and sky This man would immediately, and automatically qualify As I pointed out to the artists who so selflessly came to share It is their giving so beautifully that bolsters the care The sharing so freely of what they have been blessed to bring forth Affirming our blessings and our communal worth With gratitude to everyone at Isabella's Grills And Naziem with his emergency-sound skills It takes a great audience to motivate a great performance You folk who came out, perfect in this instance We are heartened, inspired and on some deeper level cheered Much of the life of this Foundation has been by circumstances steered But we are convicted in our determination to respond to a higher call Remembering who we are - and how important it is that we should all Let me finally stress again the relevance of your support We need allies, connections - if you like, be a cohort! But forgive me if I seem like I want to exhort It's how we are relying on you, I mean to report SP
